Program Objective

The certificate in Computed Tomography (CT) program is intended for ARRT registered radiologic technologists to prepare for work within an advanced modality. The online courses are designed to build upon existing skills and add the structured education requirements needed to safely and effectively perform diagnostic CT scans. The curriculum prepares the radiologic technologist for advancement through instruction in procedures, cross-sectional anatomy, radiation safety, and physics and instrumentation.

Graduates of this program receive a certificate. This program has been approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) for meeting the structured education requirements for the Computed Tomography registry exam; however, candidates must also document completion of specific procedures and repetition of procedures to be eligible to apply to sit for this exam.

Computed Tomography Admissions Requirements & Disclosures

Admissions Requirements:

Applicants to this program must hold a current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration as a radiologic technologist.

There is no clinical experience in this program; therefore, applicants must document current employment as a radiologic technologist. They must also document either current or past cross-training in CT, or the employer’s intention to cross train the applicant as a CT technologist.

 

State Enrollment Disclosures

Pima Medical Institute has determined that the Computed Tomography (CT) program does not meet the state educational requirements for licensure or certification in the following states.  Therefore, the institution does not enroll students into the CT program who are physically located in the following states and territories: Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Wisconsin, Vermont, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands.

State educational requirements for licensure or certification are subject to change.

Computed tomography (CT) uses ionizing radiation, a scanner and a computer to create three-dimensional images of sections of the human body. CT technologists play a vital role in guiding patients though this exam and preparing the scan results for healthcare providers.
